Odun Orimolade Work with Live Art Danmark 2016 Collaboration with Mette Garfield for COLAB Copenhagen Collaboration with Mette Garfield For our program COLAB Copenhagen, Odun Orimolade worked with Mette Garfield. Together, they investigated the formation of individual and collective memory by considering the womb as a poetic space, a space where we all have been but no one has a memory of. If memories started before birth, how would they affect our orientations, imaginations and ways to look at ourselves and others? In addressing the importance of archiving, policies, laws and narratives about pre-birth ideologies and their impact on social development, we are confronted with the institutionalised history that we […]

Peter van der Meijden Works with Live Art Danmark 2013 “The Definition of Performativity” at Samtalekøkken 2016 Residence in collaboration with Ato Malinda at COLAB Copenhagen The Definition of Performativity Peter van Der Meijden presented and performed his performative lecture “The definition of performativity” at Samtalekøkken, illustrating his theses with a re-enactment of Joseph Beuys’ “Sauerkrautpartitur”. With this piece, first performed in Tokyo in 1969, Beuys demonstrated his famous idea that everyone is/should/can be an artist, by randomly arranging bits of Sauerkraut on a music stand to form the score which he then used to conduct an orchestra: Rather than recreate a well known and time honoured score, this one […]
Elke Mark Work for Live Art Danmark 2015 “ARKENic” at Live Art for Børn 2 ARKENic Elke begins her performance outside the museum space. Through the windows, we see her walking briskly across a deserted sandy construction site, covered head to toe in flowing blueish grey fabric. The image reminds us of a ghost, a witch, or another creature not quite from this world, as she approaches the museum in an almost floating stride, but with a purpose. Once she enters the auditorium, she stands close to the kids and their grown ups in the darkened space. Her robe slowly spreads out and closes, evoking images of a giant breathing […]
Marita Bullmann Works for Live Art Danmark 2015 “Acid Tears II” and “Foam From a Thousand Beers V” at Live Art for Børn 2 Acid Tears II Marita begins her first performance for our second children’s festival standing very still wrapped head to tow in a blue piece of cloth. Moving very slowly she covers about two thirds of the distance across the gallery before, still in slow motion, she sheds the cloth. She continues towards the center of the space, the contours of her body now clearly visible in tight athletic clothes, with the same slow awkward movements as before. Watching her we are reminded of a strange insect […]
Nicolas Puyjalon Works for Live Art Danmark2015 Three performances for Live Art for Børn 2 at Arken Art Museum in Ishøj Three PerformancesAt Live Art for Børn 2 Nicolas presented three different performances. All of them reacted directly to the space of Arken Museum, where the festival took place. He uses everyday materials he either finds at the venue or buys cheaply to install his body in an unusual relationship with space or architecture. His actions are always precarious, no sacred art here, we rather follow a slightly confused man at work, assembling chairs, foam tubes, balloons with lots of tape, in order to address and understand the architectural elements […]
