Fatric Bewong Works with Live Art Danmark2019 Residency in Copenhagen and a recipe for Performance Opskrifter. Recipe for PerformancesIn her interdisciplinary art practice, Fatric focusses on the complex relationships between colonialism and pollution. During her residency at Copenhagen Contemporary she created a walking performance which led her along the further reaches of Copenhagen harbour. With her face painted green and carrying a massive pile of makeshift luggage on her back, she succeeded in inspiring audiences and passers by to reflect issues of migration and colonialism. In a performance recipe that she contributed to our collection that allows audiences to recreate performances that took place at an earlier date, she asks […]

Ato Malinda Work with Live Art Danmark 2016 Collaboration with Peter van der Meijden for COLAB Copenhagen Who owns the job of deciding which stories are remembered and which stories are forgotten? How can artists be involved in making these decisions? As part of the COLAB program, Ato Malinda teamed up with Peter van der Meijden for a one month residency. Together they looked at strategies of represention of various objects in Danish museums. A special focus was given to objects from Africa and how they come to represent an artificial unitary identity of Africa, instead of illustrating its many different nations and cultures. Most of the objects Ato and […]

In their collaboration, Christian Etongo and Jessie Kleemann focus on the one vital aspect that does link their countries of origin: their unresolved colonial past. Elke Mark (DE)

Elke Mark Work for Live Art Danmark 2015 “ARKENic” at Live Art for Børn 2 ARKENic Elke begins her performance outside the museum space. Through the windows, we see her walking briskly across a deserted sandy construction site, covered head to toe in flowing blueish grey fabric. The image reminds us of a ghost, a witch, or another creature not quite from this world, as she approaches the museum in an almost floating stride, but with a purpose. Once she enters the auditorium, she stands close to the kids and their grown ups in the darkened space. Her robe slowly spreads out and closes, evoking images of a giant breathing […]
