Elke Mark (DE)

Elke Mark Work for Live Art Danmark 2015 “ARKENic” at Live Art for Børn 2 ARKENic Elke begins her performance outside the museum space. Through the windows, we see her walking briskly across a deserted sandy construction site, covered head to toe in flowing blueish grey fabric. The image reminds us of a ghost, a witch, or another creature not quite from this world, as she approaches the museum in an almost floating stride, but with a purpose. Once she enters the auditorium, she stands close to the kids and their grown ups in the darkened space. Her robe slowly spreads out and closes, evoking images of a giant breathing […]

Moving very slowly she covers about two thirds of the distance across the gallery before, still in slow motion, she sheds the cloth. She continues towards the center of the space, the contours of her body now clearly visible in tight athletic clothes, with the same slow awkward movements as before. Watching her we are reminded of a strange insect […]

Nicolas Puyjalon (FR)

Nicolas Puyjalon Works for Live Art Danmark2015 Three performances for Live Art for Børn 2 at Arken Art Museum in Ishøj Three PerformancesAt Live Art for Børn 2 Nicolas presented three different performances. All of them reacted directly to the space of Arken Museum, where the festival took place. He uses everyday materials he either finds at the venue or buys cheaply to install his body in an unusual relationship with space or architecture. His actions are always precarious, no sacred art here, we rather follow a slightly confused man at work, assembling chairs, foam tubes, balloons with lots of tape, in order to address and understand the architectural elements […]

Marco Teubner Works for Live Art Danmark 2015 “Fly” and group performance with Black Market International at Kulstof 15 Fly Marco begins his performance, lying on his back on a table, presenting us with a first image of flight by moving slowly from side to side. We might believe that the infernal creaking noises we hear emanate from the table, but they continue as Marco moves to the ground, places a bag of sugar with a small hole in it on the edge of the the table, and we see the sugar running out, like the sand in an hour glass. Marco dons a pair of fragile wings on his […]

Holding the piece of glass in front of her face, she produces a rough portrait of herself by drawing with her fingers in the soot. As […]
