Sara Hamming

Work for Live Art Danmark
2012 “Good Food” for Samtalekøkken

Good Food
When we invited Sara to perform at Samtalekøkken, she presented a buffet. Although the good food had been carefully prepared to look like it was half-eaten, all of it was quickly consumed by a hungry audience. Afterwards, Sara revealed the intention of the work in a performance lecture, which investigated the social phenomena of the buffet and the fine line between attraction and disgust.

About the Artist
Sara Hamming is a performance artist and performance writer living in Copenhagen. She receives continuous funding from the National Arts Foundation for projects and is a member of Independent Performing Artists and Dansehallerne in Copenhagen.

Sara works in a cross-aesthetic field with text, music, objects, choreography and space. Her themes are fantasy/power, history, creative anachronism, feminism and therapy. She works with series that reflect perceptions of time and history: in series and incomplete or rather recurring processes that shift and rethink the themes, tools and structures of the previous manifestations.

Sara works full time as a performance artist, occasionally doing performative reading workshops at universities and other kinds of teaching. She also occasionally works as a dramaturg.

Moribund.dk is Sara’s working framework.

Om liveart_dk

Liveart.dk was founded in 2004 in Copenhagen to promote the discussion, documentation and development of live art in Denmark. The organisation is equally inspired by the imaginative and entertaining English Live Art tradition as by the theoretical and political German theatre tradition. We have organised 10 large international festivals of Live Art for kids and adults since 2004, and over 40 discussion events, books, video series, symposia and more in the field of live art, performance art, art criticism and documentation. We collaborate with theatres, music venues, art museums and festivals in Denmark and internationally.
