Mette Kit Jensen

Work for Live Art Danmark
2013 “Fortællinger fra lukkede rum” at Hitparaden 1

Fortællinger fra lukkede rum
At our first Hitparaden festival, Mette performed the performance lecture that can be seen in the video below, in Danish. One point of reference for the work is the German 19th century writer Karl May, famous for writing numerous adventure stories set in the Wild West and other colonised regions of the world. But she also took the audience into the rather bizarre world of the Native American reenactment camps that existed in the GDR. These, she claimed, were so popular because spending time there was mostly an excuse for running around and interacting in the nude.

About the Artist
Mette Kit Jensen’s primary interest is in the sociological and inner topographical perceptions of public spaces. For the most part she has been working directly in public areas. Recently her main interest has been researching the historical relationship between artist and public space.

Om liveart_dk

Liveart.dk was founded in 2004 in Copenhagen to promote the discussion, documentation and development of live art in Denmark. The organisation is equally inspired by the imaginative and entertaining English Live Art tradition as by the theoretical and political German theatre tradition. We have organised 10 large international festivals of Live Art for kids and adults since 2004, and over 40 discussion events, books, video series, symposia and more in the field of live art, performance art, art criticism and documentation. We collaborate with theatres, music venues, art museums and festivals in Denmark and internationally.
