A Bicycle Made for You
The Berlin based performance duo Plan B created a special Copenhagen version of their tandem riding performance. Each spectator was greeted personally by one of the performers and led to a tandem that was propped up and stationary in a bike stand. The other performer was already on the front seat of the tandem, ready to go with a small screen on their back, which then became the site of the film performance.

For the Copenhagen version created for “Berliner Luft 4”, Plan B asked the city’s cycle couriers for all the streets with associations of love or being together or heartache or breaking up and they came up with streets with such names as (translated): Happiness Island Alley, Heart of Joy Street, Cupid Park, Tranquillity Street, Soul Stands, and many more. Plan B visited the streets, shot video there and showed one participant at the time a Copenhagen they may not have known, seen through the eyes of two people looking for answers in a city they are unfamiliar with, looking for clues in the names of streets, the angle of the sun, and the kindness of strangers.

About the Artists
Plan B are the British artists Sophia New and Daniel Belasco Rogers who have been working together and based in Berlin since 2001. The work is both site specific and relationship specific and often takes personal daily data as the main material to be made public through a practice than spans visual art, new media, performance, installation and socially engaged practice. It has been shown in festivals, exhibitions, theaters and on the streets of many different cities. They both regularly teach on a variety of arts courses in Germany and abroad.
