Silent Stand
For Samtalekøkkenet in April 2011, Frans directed and performed in the group performance “Silent Stand” from his performance series “The Aesthetics of Resistance”. A rather shabby mummy and several other figures, including a group of predominantly white bellydancers, silently move through a number of tableaux, while a disembodied female voice connects the images they produce to events of the political uprising going on at the time in Egypt.

Introducing Goldman
In this solo-performance, Frans Jacobi becomes ‘Goldman’, a figure that obviously is meant to symbolize the elusive powerstructures of global economy. If the real powers behind capitalism’s world dominance remain obscure and abstract – almost impossible to identify and relate to – Goldman aims to give these complex alghoritmic financial mechanisms a visible body. ‘Introducing Goldman’ is part of a first round of performances establishing the performance-group SYNSMASKINEN, established by Frans Jacobi in May 2014. SYNSMASKINEN will adress the current global crisis in its various manifestations. ‘Goldman’ is one of the figures that will appear in the coming productions of SYNSMASKINEN along with other figures such as ‘The Angry Other’.

About the Artist
Frans is a visual artist, working with performance since 2002. He often directs large scale, multilayered performances with many participants. The style is narrative, theatrical and political. His first performance was the remake of BETONHJERTET, a rockopera by Danish artist collective Røde Mor. In 2007 he staged a play by Bertolt Brecht as a 3hour solo-performance. The performance cycle ‘Aesthetics of Resistance’ consisting of 8 large-scale performances in various sites in and around Copenhagen 2008-2012, was the central part of his artistic phd at Malmø Art Academy / Lunds University. Jacobi currently works as professor in timebased art / performance at Bergen Academy of Art and Design, Norway.
