Work for Live Ar Danmark
2022 KuriositetR, 100 Videoworks for Live Art For Børn.

KuriositetR
Visitors to our Live Art festival for kids in Aarhus during the summer of 2022 would find monitors distributed all over DOKK1, an avantgarde building right by the harbor and the main venue of our festival. David had created 100 short magic non-verbal videos (one each day) which ran on the monitors in infinite loops. Each video featured a short action performed by David. They ranged from everyday activities (David drinking a glass of something was a recurring motive) to David handling classical magic props, like a deck of playing cards. Each video constituted a small interruption of the mundane activities throughout the venue, and we observed many children and their adults spending long periods of time spellbount in front of the monitors.

About David
David describes himself as a creator and performer in projects in the field of performing arts. The majority of my work consists of performances, where a combination of magic, visual poetry and clown are recurring characteristics. He strongly believes in the richness of reaching out beyond the field of magic in order to develop as a magician and for magic as a form of expression to develop in general.

David is a graduate from l’École Internationale du Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris, and member of the international theatre company The Krumple. As a magician I explore conjuring and magic from a range of different perspectives – in practice, theoretical and artistic. I explore how magic can relate to other artistic genres and expressions, and I study how different forms of magic can be executed as well as how the sense of magic can be experienced.
