Jørgen Teller Work with Live Art Danmark 2014 “Static Teller” at Hitparaden 2 Static Teller An amazing set of noisy voice and guitar improvisation of Jørgen Teller’s then brand new solo project. He calls it minimal rock goes synth’n’poetry. Here he speeds up new minimalistic text with vibrant voice-delays, his electric guitar, Le Bastard, and static LFO-synths. Static Teller was created during Teller’s residency at Rotterdam’s avantgarde studio The Worm in early 2014. Teller “pressed rec” and used the studio’s load of old crazy machinery, including an ARP 2500, an EMSi and the Publison DHM89. The resulting handfull of suggestive static songs became his new solo-project. About the Artist Jørgen […]

J&K Work for Live Art Danmark 2014 “The Cave” at Hitparaden 2 The Cave The Cave is a tribute to the origins of art making and explores liminal states of human and non‐human existence and of becoming other. Over the duration of 17 minutes, a stage is created as a living tableaux, transforming the space into a temporary cave. Five costumed characters inhabit, explore and construct The Cave as they interact, handle materials and paint each other in a slow and yet dramatic choreography structured by light and sound. Performers: Linards Kulless, Christoph Mühlau, Philip Roitmann, Janne Schäfer, Mette Schwarz. Light on stage: Kristine Agergaard. Sound technical assistance: Matthias Wyder. […]

Kim Grønborg Work for Live Art Denmark 2014 “Frisk Frugt and Orchestra” at Hitparaden 2 “Frisk Frugt” is Danish for “fresh fruit” and the solo project of multi-instrumentalist Anders Lauge Meldgaard. Since he debuted as Frisk Frugt with the album “Guldtrompeten” in 2006, he became a unique figure on the Danish music scene. At our Hitparaden 2 festival, Frisk Frugt played a special concert with orchestral backing and – icing on the cake – visual artist and musician Kim Grønborg contributing visuals to the show. Joaquin Zaragoza Work for Live Art Danmark 2014 “Bombardino” at Hitparaden 2 Bombardino The bombardino or euphonium is a brass instrument and close relative of the tuba, but slightly smaller. It covers the tenor tone range, whereas the tuba is firmly rooted in the bass. One of these rather rare instruments is the center piece of Joaquin’s performance installation for Hitparaden 2. This one is equipped with several small mikes that the artist produces a series of scratchy noise sounds with, before actually improvising on the instrument. Visuals are supplied by small photoscreens attached to the bombardino and a larger projection which doubles as the light source for the work. […]

Christine Overvad Hansen Works for Live Art Danmark 2014 “In Search of Seductive Powers” at Hitparaden 2. In Search of Seductive Powers Christine enters the performance area, in an open courtyard of Pumpehuset, and approaches a sofa that has previously been installed there. Or is it a sofa? What at first glance seems to be a common piece of furniture, turns ut to be a large array of carefully crafted and sewn artefacts. The artist proceeds to matter of factly disassemble the sofa. Its cushions turn out to be bags containing materials she uses to transform the sofa into a machine that maybe conducts the search for seductive powers in […]
Claus Ejner Works for Live Art Danmark 2014: “Performance om det at være til”, Hitparaden 1 Performance om det at være til Claus Ejner spoke Danish and wrote in Danish on the posters he used throughout his performance at Hitparaden 1 festival. The title might be translated as “Performance on what will be”. He began standing on stage motionless with a poster around his neck stating that he is normal and that this is a performance that deals with locking out the outside world. He remains motionless for some minutes, fingers stuffed in his ears. He then worked his way through a series of microperformances, each resulting in a still […]
Søren Krag Work for Live Art Denmark 2014 “Nu(?)” at Hitparaden 2 Nu(?) Søren brought some friends along for his performance “Nu(?)” at our second Hitparaden festival of international performance art. On a screen in the back of the small stage, a wild chain of video associations was projected, while the performers in the foreground remained half obscure in the half light. Phantastic costume creations and kitsch props clashed with snippets of documentary film from the Iraq war, until finally the screen is taken over by a performer in a monster mask, rolling in a bathtub and crying for his mom. A disturbing tour de force of images and sounds. […]
